EDITORIAL POLICY

Preprints

Revista de Educação PUC-Campinas supports the submission of articles as preprints and accepts manuscripts previously deposited in reliable repositories.

Peer Review Process

Revista de Educação PUC-Campinas has specific policies for evaluating and selecting manuscripts:

  • Works that have been submitted to other journals, presented at previous events (national or international) or translated into other languages will not be accepted, in order to preserve the originality of the work.
  • The initial evaluation is carried out by the Editors, considering originality, pertinence, academic quality and relevance to the disciplinary field of Education, according to the focus and scope of the journal.
  • After initial approval, the manuscripts will be forwarded to ad hoc reviewers selected by the Editors. Each manuscript will be sent to two reviewers of recognized expertise in the subject. In case of disagreement, a third reviewer will be appointed.
  • Authors can indicate three possible reviewers for the manuscript with their e-mail addresses and the institutions to which they are linked. Optionally, they can indicate three reviewers to whom they would not like the work to be sent.
  • The evaluation process adopted by the journal is blind review, keeping the identities of authors and reviewers confidential.
  • The reviewers' opinions may be approval, resubmission or rejection. In any of these cases, the author will be notified.
  • The opinions are analyzed by the Associate Editors, who propose to the Editor-in-Chief whether or not to approve the manuscript. The Editor-in-Chief will make the final decision on the article (Approved or Rejected).
  • The similarity analysis occurs in the second stage of the evaluation process, after the first ad hoc
  • Rejected manuscripts, but with the possibility of reformulation can be resubmitted as new works, undergoing a new evaluation process.
  • Works with suggested changes must be corrected by the authors within 30 days.
  • Approved manuscripts may be returned to authors for approval of changes during the editing and standardization process, in accordance with the journal's style.

Ethics Policy and Misconduct, Errata and Retraction

Cases of scientific misconduct identified by the Revista de Educação PUC-Campinas will be investigated by the editorial team, together with the Editorial Board, in order to determine the best option for resolving them.

Requests for Erratum or Retraction will be evaluated and handled by the editorial team.

Conflict of Interest Policy

Conflicts of interest can be of a personal, commercial, political, academic or financial nature and can occur when authors, reviewers or editors have interests that may influence the preparation or evaluation of manuscripts. When submitting a manuscript, authors are responsible for recognizing and disclosing financial or other conflicts that may have influenced the work. If there is, even potentially, a conflict of interest, the author(s) must disclose this in a signed document attached to the submission platform. For more information: Disclosure of Financial and Non-Financial Relationships and Activities, and Conflicts of Interest.

Adoption of similarity checking software

The journal uses the Ithenticate tool to check the similarity of articles. This check takes place during the evaluation process, in the second stage of the ad hoc review.  There is no acceptable percentage of similarity and each case is analyzed individually.

Articles derived from publications such as theses or dissertations are accepted and can be submitted. However, we believe that excellent research should generate different research products and not just sliced reproductions (salami publications), which is considered unethical conduct.

Authors may be asked to rewrite and adjust the manuscript according to the similarities found.

Gender and Sex Issues

The editorial team of Revista de Educação PUC-Campinas, as well as the authors who publish in the journal, should always observe the Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER) guidelines. The SAGER guidelines comprise a set of guidelines for reporting sex and gender information in study design, data analysis, results and interpretation of findings. In addition, Revista de Educação PUC-Campinas observes the policy of gender equity in the formation of its editorial board.

Ethics Committee

Research involving procedures with human beings must respect the ethical principles established by Resolution No. 466, of December 12, 2012, of the Ministry of Health, and the research must have been approved by the ethics committee of the institution responsible for it.

The declaration of approval from the ethics committee will be requested if the article is approved. The research registration number must be provided for evaluation.
