INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

Types of Documents Accepted

The Revista de Nutrição accepts article submissions in any language; however, if approved, articles are published in English (occasionally, at the editors' discretion, articles may also be published in Portuguese). Translation into English is the responsibility of the authors (including costs of translation). The journal accepts the following categories:

  • Original article.
  • Systematic review or meta-analysis articles.
  • Letter (a letter to the journal, typically commenting on a previously published work).
  • Brief communication (a concise report of research findings).
  • Editorial (an opinion piece, policy statement, or general commentary written by an editorial team member or guest author with a distinct title and authorship from the section name).
  • Retraction (retraction or withdrawal of previously published material).

Authors' Contribution

The individual contributions of the authors must be substantial and disclosed at the time of submission, in the designated section of the Template provided by the journal.

The Revista de Nutrição only publishes articles that have had the collaboration of up to six (6) authors, and this information must be provided using the terms established by CRediT, namely: Conceptualization, Data curation, Formal analysis, Funding acquisition, Investigation, Methodology, Project administration, Resources, Software, Supervision, Validation, Visualization, Writing–original draft, Writing–review & editing. Detailed definitions can be found on the CRediT page.

Preparing the Manuscript

The manuscript must follow the following Template provided by the editors of the Revista de Nutrição during its preparation. Adherence to the template facilitates the identification of information by the Journal's team and lends greater agility to the process of normalization and standardization of articles, which also impacts the final publication time after approval.

Article Submission Format

Manuscript submission, when made using the Template provided by the Journal, follows the preferred .docx standard of the Microsoft Word tool. Other forms of submission such as PDF or other text editing tools will not be accepted.

Digital Assets

 Tables and Figures:

The Revista de Nutrição accepts manuscripts with up to seven (7) illustrations in any format (e.g., tables, charts, images, graphs). The formats, extensions, sizes, and resolutions are detailed in the Template.

However, considering the accessibility of readers, we recommend the use of Tables and Charts, which are more easily read through assistive technologies such as screen-reading software. Images and column graphs, among others, require more elaborate audio descriptions that are not yet available in the Journal.

Citations and References

Citations and references must be numbered consecutively, following the order in which they were first mentioned in the text, according to the Vancouver style. In references with up to six authors, all should be cited. In references with more than six authors, the first six should be cited, followed by the expression "et al".

Citations

Citations in the text should be numbered progressively in the order they appear in the text, in Arabic numerals, within square brackets after the citation (example: [1,2,3]), and must be included in the References list.

References

The editors value contemporary references that engage with the current scientific community; therefore, it is suggested that at least 80% of the references should be from the last five years and originate from indexed journals, with 20% from the last two years. Citing books is discouraged.

Citations/references from undergraduate theses, works from Congresses, Symposia, Workshops, Meetings, etc., and unpublished texts (lectures, talks, etc.) will not be accepted.

In references with up to six authors, all should be cited. In references with more than six authors, the first six should be cited, followed by the expression "et al".

The abbreviations of the titles of cited journals should be in accordance with: Index Medicus <http://www2.bg.am.poznan.pl/czasopisma/medicus.php?lang=eng> or National Library of Medicine <https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/nlmcatalog/>.
