Submission
INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
Types of Documents Accepted
Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas) accepts the submission of articles in any language, however, when approved, it publishes articles in English (eventually, if it is in the editor's interest, articles may also be published in the vernacular). Authors are responsible for paying for the translation of articles into English. The journal accepts the following categories:
- Research report (Article reporting original research).
- Review articles (Articles that critically summarize scientific knowledge on a given topic. Also known as a literature review).
- Letter (Letter addressed to the journal, typically commenting on a published work).
- Short communication (Brief communication of research results).
- Editorial or introduction (Opinion piece, political statement or general comment written by a member of the editorial team (with authorship and a title different from the section title)).
- Interview (The act of interviewing or being interviewed. It is a conversation between two or more people for a specific purpose with questions asked by the interviewer in order to obtain necessary information from the interviewee).
- Approved article opinion (Document analyzing a manuscript that reports on research with an assessment of its relevance, the methods applied and the presentation and discussion of the results obtained. The opinion highlights the contributions of the research that recommend its acceptance and recommendations for corrections and improvements).
- Book review (Review or critical analysis of one or more books in print or online. (The “product review” type is used for product analysis).
- Retraction (Retraction or denial of previously published material).
Authors' Contribution
The individual contributions of the authors must be substantial and informed at the time of submission, in the place indicated in the template provided by the journal.
Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas) is limited to publishing articles with the collaboration of up to seven (7) authors and the information must be provided using the terms established by CRediT, namely: Conceptualization, Data curation, Data analysis, Receipt of funding, Research, Methodology, Project management, Provision of tools, Development, implementation and testing of software, Supervision, Validation of data and experiments, Design of data presentation, Writing of the original manuscript, Writing, reviewing and editing. The detailed specifications for each term can be found on the CRediT website.
Preparing the Manuscript
The manuscript should follow the following template provided by the editorial staff of Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas). Adapting to the template makes it easier for the Journal team to identify information and speeds up the process of normalizing and standardizing articles, which also has an impact on the final publication deadline after approval.
Article Submission Format
When the manuscript is submitted using the template provided by the Journal, it follows the docx format of Microsoft's Word text tool. Other forms of submission such as PDF or other text editing tools will not be accepted.
Digital Assets
Tables and Figures:
Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas) accepts manuscripts with up to 7 (seven) illustrations in any format (e.g. tables, charts, images, graphs). The formats and extensions, sizes and resolutions are given in the Model.
However, with readers' accessibility in mind, we recommend using Tables and Charts, which are easier to read using assistive technologies, such as screen-reading software. Images and column graphs, among others, require more elaborate audio descriptions, which are not yet available in the Journal.
Citations and References
The journal Estudos de Psicologia (Campinas) adopts the publication standards of the American Psychological Association - APA (7th edition, 2020), with some adaptations of its own style.
Citations
Article with two authors: cite both authors whenever the article is referred to.
Article with three or more authors: cite the surname of the first author followed by et al. and the year from the first appearance in the text. E.g.: Carneiro et al. (2011) or (Carneiro et al., 2011).
Quotations in a foreign language translated by the authors should be footnoted with the quotation in the original language. The source should read: Our translation. E.g.: (Pfeiffer, 2015, p. 24).
Literal quotations of up to 40 words should appear in the body of the text in quotation marks, indicating the author's surname, the date and the page. E.g.: It is possible to understand that “the material for artistic content and style is seized from reality and worked from there” (Barroco & Superti, 2014, p. 23).
Quotations of more than 40 words should be in a new paragraph, single-spaced, in font size 11 and indented 4cm from the left margin. Highlights in quotations should be justified as the author's emphasis (when the highlight is from the original) and our emphasis (when the highlight is yours).
References: Sort the items in the list of references alphabetically by author. Apply an offset indent of 1.27 cm to each item, which means that the first line of the reference is left-aligned and subsequent lines are indented 1.27 cm from the left margin. Use your word processor's paragraph formatting function to apply the offset indentation
