Abstract

The aim of this research was to ascertain the potential influence of ludic activities conducted in a hospital environment, on the developmental processes of children with cerebral palsy, based on an analysis of the microsystem elements per Urie Bronfenbrenner. Starting from a qualitative approach, this research was characterized as an interpretative case study. Four children with CP and their mothers participated in this
research that took place in the “waiting room” of the pediatric neurological physical therapy unit at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (University Hospital). The criteria chosen were as follows: the CP diagnosis, therapy attendance and the agreement to participate. The research tools used were: participant observation and semi-structured interviews. The data analysis revealed a positive change in the attitude of the mothers and children in relation to the environment.
