Abstract

Letterer-Siwe Syndrome is a systemic disease of unknown cause, consisting of the proliferation of mature and immature histiocytes. In the lung, the disease is marked by inflammation of the small airways and venules pulmonary, progressing to fibrosis and destruction of the partitions. It is a rare occurrence (1 for every 10 thousand inhabitants) and difficult to diagnose, making it important to demonstrate
systemic, often nonspecific. The case of an 11-year-old child will be presented months of age, with pneumopathy, who received treatment for bronchopneumonia, eventually dying, and at an autopsy, Letterer-Siwe Syndrome was diagnosed.
