Abstract

Klippel-Trenaunay syndrome reflects severe venous hypertension and clinically consists oJ- large caliber varicose veins, capillary nevus and hypertrophy of tissues and bones of the affected limb. It is common, in patients with this diseases, the presence of edema, fibras is of skin, ocher dermatitis, ulcer and pain, symptoms of venous stasis that J,-equently incapacitate them to work. ln the absence of agenesis or hypoplasia of the deep venous system, which are frequently associated, surgical treatment should be considered for the varicose veins. After a thorough preoperatory evaluation and explanation of the risks and benefits of the surgical treatment, four patients were operated on. There was no significant postoperative complication, and there was a high inner satisfaction of the patients. Despite the small number of cases, it an he inferred that, for patients who meet the previously mentioned criterias, surgical treatm.ent of varicose veins in. individuais with Klippel-Trenaunay-Weber syndrome is possible and advisable.
