Leitura e Leitores Atípicos no Summary of Investigations Relating to Reading (1986/1991).

O trabalho examina 209 referências relativas a pesquisas sobre leitura de aprendizes atípicos, categorizadas nas seguintes áreas: Deficiência Visual, Deficiência Auditiva, Retardo Mental; Distúrbios Neurológicos/Lesão Cerebral e Outros Leitores Atípicos. Significantemente a produção cientifica na área de Distúrbios Neurológicos é maior que a das outras, mas é a menos sofisticada em metodologia. Os estudos sobre Retardo Mental são os mais refinados em metodologia cientifica. Há correlação significante entre idade dos sujeitos dos estudos de Retardo Mental e de Deficiência Auditiva, ambos usam crianças como sujeitos mais frequentemente. Não foram encontradas correlações significantes nas comparações sobre o desenvolvimento metodológico.
