Validação empírica do Inventário de Sintomas de Stress (ISS)
Keywords:
stress, inventory, empirical validationAbstract
The present paper reports the empirical validation of the Stress Symptom Inventory compiled by Lipp (1989). The subjects were 229 adults divided into two samples: a cIinical sample composed of 105 subjects and a non-cIinical one composed of 124 college students. The results of the ISS were compared with selfreport measures and, in the cIinical sample, with the clinical diagnoses of an expert in the arca. Results indicated a perfect correlation between the ISS and lhe clinical judgement in the clinical sample. The agreement between self-report and the ISS was around 86%. It was concluded that the ISS has validity and may be used both for clinical and research purposes.
