Abstract

The objeaive of this article is to describe the changes seen in individuaIs with cleft lip and palate and their needs when receiving dental care. These congenital anoma lies affect roughly 1 in every 650 to 1000 newborns worldwide. thus a pubfic health problem. Dental problems in children with this anomaly require early and ongoing intervention in order to minimize consequences, Proper follow-up of affected individuais by the primary healthcare system favors specialized íntervention when necessary. The topics are covered in a way to provide information to health professionals who are not specialized in this subject and advice for primary care.
