Manifestações ósseas bucais da osteoporose

Resumo

O objetivo do presente artigo foi averiguar manifestações clínicas da osteoporose no âmbito do complexo ósseo maxilo-mandibular. Foi realizado levantamento bibliográfico com busca nas bases PubMed, Scopus, LILACS de estudos sobre as manifestações da osteoporose a nível do complexo ósseo maxilo-facial. Constatou-se que muitas vezes, por intermédio de um exame radiográfico odontológico é que se descobre o acometimento por osteoporose e se procede ao encaminhamento médico reumatológico. Na maioria dos estudos consultados esse procedimento foi considerado muito importante por se tratar de uma doença que não tem cura e que deve ser mantida sob controle por tratamento médico e/ou farmacológico continuadamente. Concluiu-se que, a melhor maneira de se lidar com a osteoporose é através do tratamento preventivo, passível de ser realizado pelo diagnóstico precoce, inclusive em âmbito odontológico, possibilitando a minimização de possíveis danos.
