Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive, neurodegenerative disorder in which there is evidence of a decrease in cognitive-behavioral and functional capacity. In it, there is impairment in the performance of activities of daily living by the sick as the disease progresses. A therapeutic alternative for dealing with Alzheimer’s disease involves the use of medical cannabis for treatment. The objective of this article was, through a literature review, to verify how medicinal cannabis ncan be used in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. A narrative review of the literature and a nsurvey of studies and articles that dealt with the use of medical cannabis in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease were carried out by searching the Google Scholar and PubMED databases. The treatment of Alzheimer’s disease with drugs has deficiencies in the evolutionary stages of this pathology and therapeutic alternatives are sought, making use of the endocannabinoid system. The medical use nof cannabis should continue to be studied, aiming to obtain improvements and the availability of greater resources and therapies to deal with dementia, among which is Alzheimer’s disease. The use of medical cannabis can act by minimizing the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, concomitantly enabling better conditions and quality of life for sick patients.
