The authors through interviews and test applications aspects related to the affectivity of patients who apply for aesthetic surgery at a University Hospital. They conclude that there are many patienst with a depressive mood and or a depressive syndrome. They call attention to the fact these patients frequently try to solve their affective problems through surgey, thus exposing to risk the result surgery. The necessity of a psychological and/or psychiatric evaluation before surgery is emphasized.
