The authors analyzed retrospectively 11 patients operated for Pharyngoesophageal Diverticulum (Zenker's Diverticulum) in the discipline of Digestive System Diseases I of the Surgery Department, at the University Hospital Pontificia Universidade Católica de Campinas, SP. The study was carried out with patients interned in the period between 1985 and 1995, analyzing the diagnostic methods of the disease and the diferent treatment techniques proposed by the literature, in comparison with the technique practiced in this Service (diverticulectomy plus myotomy of cricopharyngeal muscle). New advances in diagnosis and treatment of Zenker's Diverticulum were also demonstrated.
