Schistosomiasis mansonic case report of the central nervous system

The schistosomiasis of the central nervous system is seldom diagnosed. This report presents a case of a patient from a non-endemic area, with meningoradicular manifestations of schistosomiasis mansoni, confirmed by immunofluorescent reaction in cerebrospinal f7uid. He was treated with praziquantel associated with corticotherapy. This study points out the necessity of specific etiological diagnosis and the early institution of the treatment with anti-inflammatory drugs and specific drugs for a better recovery of the patient.
