FUNGAI MENINGOENCEPHALITIS IN INFANT

The fungal meningitis is a rare disease, of difficult diagnosis, associated with high mortality. The authors report the case of a newborn infant with fever, who developed intracranial hypertension and died, in spilt of the fingicidal medication. The diagnosis was based on the direct demonstration of elements suggesting Aspergillus SP. in the specimen obtained by puncture of bregmatic fontanel. The treatment was based on the use of Amphoterian B.
