Premature Cardiac Manifestation In Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

Cardiac involvement in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus occurs in approximately 15% to 50% of patients. Pericarditis is the most common manifestation. Cardiac tamponade is extremely rare, mainly as an initial manifestation of the disease. This research describes the case of a young woman who presented as the initial manifestation of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, cardiac tamponade, having been treated with high doses of corticosteroids, also requiring pericardiocentesis and installation of a pericardial window.
