Abstract

Objective

This "in vitro" study evaluated the physica/ property called superficial roughness, of two sealers used with the tissue conditioner Dura Conditioner®: the primer of the silicon Quick Line®and the primer with the silicon Quick Line®.

Methods

Sixty specimens of the tissue conditioner Dura Conditioner® (23 x 9 x 3 millimeters) were prepared according to the manufactures' directions. Twenty of the tissue conditioner Dura Conditioner® were /eft without sealer and constituted the contrai group. Sea/ers were app/ied on the surface of forty conditioner specimens, as follows: Twenty were coated with the primer of the silicon Quick Line®; the other twenty were coated with the primer and the silicon Quick Line®. AI! specimens were separated in two groups, which were stored in water at 3 7°C for 7 and 14 days and mechanically brushed for 777 and 1,554 cycles, respectively. Then, ai/ specimens were submitted to the reading of superficial roughness. Data from the test were analysed statistically using analysis of variance it was performed, adopting a significance levei of p<O,05.

Results

After the mechanica/ brushing, the specimens that presented on average the smal/est superficial roughness, statistically significant, were the ones that had been coated only with the primer.

Conclusion

For small superficial roughness, the coat only with the primer is the best choice.
