The overcoming of metaphysics and the colonial difference

This article explores how the process of effacing the other in modernity was philosophically constituted through the constitution of the self-referenced character of modernity. To do so, at first, it follows the Martin Heidegger’s reading of modernity, with emphasis on the notion that metaphysics comes to an end by realizing all its potentialities, exhausting new possibilities. Secondly, it indicates the need to radicalize the critique of modernity embraced by Heidegger, through the colonial difference as a hermeneutic horizon.
