PRELIMINARY STUDY OF TERRESTRIAL MOLLUSCS FOUND IN THE IBITIPOCA STATE PARK - MG

Abstract

A preliminary survey of terrestrial molluscs was carried out every two weeks (April 1993 to May 1994) and monthly (October 1995 to January 1997) in a natural remaining area of vegetation of Minas Gerais State, Brazil, in thelbitipoca State Park (21° 42'Se 43° 53'W). Capture techniques were used, such as manual collection with tweezers from tree trunks, shrub leaves, mosses, under trunks lying on the ground, and the superficial moving of leaves also lying on the ground of the woods and/or fields. Ten species of terrestrial molluscs were found. Nine of them from the phytophysiognomic environment of the seasonal montane semideciduous forest (Pupisona minus, Lamellaxis micra, Megalobulimus bronni, Orthalicus sultana, Thaumastus taunayi, T. magnificus, Cyclodontina costatus, Solaropsis heliarca and Haplotrema duranti), two from the gallery forest (Simpulopsis sulculosa and, T. Magnijicus), and Pupisona minus occurred in montana (?) semi-decidual seasonal vegetation as well as woody-gramineous fields. The results found in this study show that there is nota particular and typicalfauna of molluscs as, apparently, it is formed by a subgroup originated from the fauna of the Atlantic forest.
