EFFICIENCY OF TOXIC BAITS IN THE CONTROL OF ARMADILLIDIUM VULGARE (LATREILLE, 1804) (CRUSTACEA, ISOPODA) IN THE LABORATORY

This work was carried out in order to evaluate the efficiency of toxic baits to control A. vulgare. To this end a trial was performed at random with five repetitions. Toxic baits weighing from 5g to 7.5% were used for the following treatments: diazinon, deltametrina, borax, metalaldehyde, boric acid, Ateleia glazioveana and wheat middling. The evaluations were done at 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours after application by counting the dead isopods. The obtained values of the number of dead specimens were submitted to variance analyses.
The average was grouped by the Duncan test to the level of 5% of probability. A statistical significance (P<0,05) was obtained for the interaction between the treatments and evaluations. The most efficient treatment 24 hours after supplying the baits was diazinon followed by deltametrina, which was the most efficient after 48 hours. It was therefore concluded that diazinon was the best-performing product to control this isopod.
