Abstract

This study analyzed the following aspects of the Pseudocorynopoma doriai popu/ation structure: abundance patterns, condition factor, sex and ratio between weight and length. Samples were taken on a monthly basis from May 2004 to April 2005 using sma/1 traw/ing nets, in the Manantiales and EI Portugués rivers. For the Manantiales, the largest biomass values were observed during August and then between December and January; the largest biomass values for the EI Portugués River corresponded to May and March. There were no significant differences in K values, except during May, in females from the EI Portugués river. The sex ratio was not 1:1, there being more females. During December and January there was a predominance of sexually undifferentiated individuais, which corresponds to the arrival of a new cohort. This species presents a slight allometric growth, except for the females in the Manantiales, whose growth was isometric. The differences observed between males and females in terms of the allometric factor are due to the sexual dimorphism present in this subfamily of glandulocaudinae. Captured females were larger than the males.
