Abstract

This article presents a reflection about process management approach in order to improve a better comprehension and characterization over its meaning. What inspired us to develop this research is the growing interest of the organizations on the benefits caused by business processes and the suitable approach to its efficient process management. Despite of its complex nature and its small structure in terms of entrepreneurial practice or object of administrative science study, business process and administrative approach for its management reveal to be important strategic-competitive resources. Our reflection fundamentals start with the identification and analysis of the most relevant aspects of the administrative approach. To present and discuss this matter, a comparative analysis was done with other administrative approach widely known, the functional one. In this direction, the article develops reflections about the two approaches, through the analysis of twelve relevant aspects to the study of administrative approaches. The conclusions are resumed in a comparative table about the characterization of both approaches. Finally, we close the study by showing how important is business process management for the organizations nowadays, outstood by Scientific Academy as one of their main intellectual assets of the moment.
